June 2020, marks the 7th Anniversary of DesignR Studio – So thank you to all of our clients who have supported us along the way and I’d like to thank you for your continued support, allowing the freedom to remain as a self-employed and independent business owner; enjoying wearing many “hats” as a graphic designer, printer, bookkeeper and business owner. As we take on the many challenges of running a business, we have managed to build a strong network of experts available to collaborate on many projects, offering a wide range of design, digital media and business services.

Our 7th Year Anniversary lands, smack bang in the middle of a world pandemic, we will certainly have more big challenges to overcome whilst the economy sits at a stand-still and we continue to flatten the curve of Covid-19.

Lockdown has provided time for refocus and reflection during one of hottest springs ever on record. Extra fresh air and great weather has helped fuel a ‘revived’ sense of creativity and energy as we are developing the business, moving forward looking forward with some exciting new ideas and projects ahead. 

How it all began, 

Looking back seven years I (Rachel) took the giant leap away as a full time graphic designer working for a design and print franchise. I knew on that final morning when 5pm came I was ready to walk out of the door, and take the first big step on my new adventure as freelance designer. I had never felt both more scared and excited to what the future holds, the fear of not having a regular income, regular work, potential failure and not having any clients of my own yet. So many thoughts and doubts, but I did know a true love for ‘what I do’ was going to be the key to my success.

For the first year I decided to move back home with my parents, allowing me to be able to manage my new adventure working part time whilst building momentum with DesignR Studio. I soon realised I could achieve the same results from my small desk in the corner of my bedroom and work 100% remotely, doing the things I enjoy, creating visually appealing design and print.

Within a few years I had soon built good working relationships with new and existing clients allowing me to move out of my parent’s house and buy a property with my partner. Finally meaning that I could add the “actual” Studio, to DesignR Studio, a ‘dedicated’ creative space, to give me the freedom to work my magic! 

I continue to love what I do for a living, and with even a pandemic and an uncertain economy facing us, my goal is to ensure the visual communication of my client’s brands are giving the strong message to help our businesses grow and come out the other side stronger than ever.
